  • Britten Pears Young Artist 2025

    Adia has been accepted into a group of outstanding young artists as Britten Pears Young Artists 2025-26. She will be in residency at Snape Maltings in Suffolk, UK to take part in a specialized course as part of the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme.

  • Lola Fletcher Award, American Opera Society of Chicago

    Adia has been awarded The Lola Fletcher Award from the American Opera Society of Chicago in March 2025.

  • Gold Career Grant, The Shoshana Foundation

    Adia has been awarded the prestigious Richard F. Gold Career Grant by the Shoshana Foundation in October 2024. She was nominated by the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

  • Making a Splash in Chicago

    Adia has begun her tenure at the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago. ROC opened the season in a concert with Civic Orchestra of Chicago where Adia was quoted as “brilliant onstage” and “an upcoming star” in Splash Magazine. Read the review here.

  • Winner, Igor Gorin Memorial Award

    Adia has been named the 2024 recipient of the Igor Gorin Memorial Award courtesy of the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona.

  • Encouragement Award, George London Foundation Competition

    Adia received an Encouragement Award sponsored by the estate of Mark Elyn from the George and Nora London Foundation Competition in February 2024.

  • 3rd Place Winner, Midwest Region

    Adia has won Third Place in the Midwest Region of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in February 2024.

  • Winner, Tulsa District

    Adia has been named a winner in the Tulsa District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in January 2024.

  • Finalist in Opera Crown International Vocal Competition

    Adia was named a finalist in the Opera Crown International Vocal Competition in Tbilisi, Georgia in November 2023.

  • Ryan Opera Center 2024/25

    Adia will be joining Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center Ensemble for the 2024-2025 season. Additionally, Adia won the Audience Choice Award during the finals on September 17th.

  • Apprentice Artist, Santa Fe Opera 2023

    Adia has been accepted into the 2023 Apprentice Artist cohort at Santa Fe Opera. She will cover the Foreign Princess In Rusalka, perform in the chorus in Rusalka, Tosca, The Flying Dutchman, Pelléas et Mélisande, and perform in the final Apprentice Scenes.

    Adia has been named the 3rd place Winner of the Washington International Competition in May 2023.

    Adia has been named the 2nd Place Winner and 1st Soprano Prize Winner of the George Shirley Vocal Competition in May 2023.

    Adia has been named the 1st Place Winner in the Dallas Lone Star Vocal Competition in March 2023.

Biography

Praised for her “big, beautifully projected voice with an attractive edge and sparkle” (Arts Knoxville), soprano Adia Evans is a second-year soprano in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center. In Lyric's 2024/25 Season, Evans sang Theresa Alvarez/The Listeners, Girlfriend 2/Blue, and Countess Ceprano/Rigoletto. Evans has performed with Santa Fe Opera, Merola Opera Program, Fort Worth Opera, Dallas Opera Guild, Opera Columbus, Tulsa Opera, and Knoxville Opera, among others. After participating in the 2025 Britten Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh, England, Evans appears in Lyric’s 2025/26 production of El último sueño de Frida y Diego.
